Painting Techniques
SCUMBLING
To make the outlines or the colors to be more soften than the rest of the painting by using a more opaque color or by rubbing it. I chose this effect because since my painting will be abstract it would be a way of creating different tones of colors and making the color dissapear on the edges and make it more complex.

UNDER-PAINTING
It is the first layer of paint which is applied, it is used as the base of the painting. "In art, an underpainting is an initial layer of paint applied to a ground, which serves as a base for subsequent layers of paint." (Dictionary)

COMPLEMENTARY COLORS
The colors which are opposite to one another in the color wheel that creates a "great chromatic contrast." (Dictionary) For example if you have yellow, then what you will do is go up through violet, by starting to mix a greater quantity of yellow with small quantity of violet and as you go you keep adding more violet until you end with the color violet only. |
COLOR SCHEME
Color scheme is a group of colors chosen to make a painting, such as black with white or orange with yellow. In a way this is succesfull because this will be the colors that will mostly be used in the paiting and also the ones which call people's attention the most. My painting is going to be abstract but I want it to be very colorful so the colors I chose are turqoise, violet, light green and orange. Which are colors that are more vivid than others and will call people atention easier. |
